Testing allows coaches to determine if their programs are working. By re-testing after 4 weeks it is easy to see where progress has been made and if goals have been achieved.
Talent Identification can be done in two ways. One is to screen for talent using only the vertical jump test and bodyweight to determine the Vertical Jump Index. The other is to do a full battery of tests Vertical Jump, Pro Agility Run, 10 Yard Dash, and 40 Yard Dash with bodyweight to determine the Talent Identification Index.

Benefits Include
During Tom Osborne’s career at Nebraska, an interest developed in identifying an athletes’ overall athletic aptitude. A testing methodology was developed that measures baseline athletic aptitude along a standardized point scale, controlling for weight. The tests are general indicators of potential performance and correlate with on-field performance.
After analyzing 20,000 cases over 25 years, Dr. Chris Eskridge and Mike Arthur concluded that 500 points on the vertical jump is equivalent to 500 points on the Pro Agility Run, 10 yard dash, or 40 yard dash.
The Talent Identification index is based on a decathlon-type scoring system in which athletes receive points based on performance. The higher they jump, the more points they receive. The faster they run, the more points they receive.

Dr. Chris Eskridge in the middle produced the Talent Identification Index to identify talent in power sports for the Husker Power strength coaches Boyd Epley (L)) and Mike Arthur (R).
The index is scored on a 0 – 1,000 point system for each event for each gender. The index combines the Vertical Jump Pro Agility Run, 10 Yard Dash, and the 40 Yard Dash. Index points for all four tests are combined together for an overall Index and EPIC Star Rating.
